Course Description:
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Grade 4 prepares students for the middle-school ICT experience. These knowledge and skills are designed for students to be more creative, effective communicators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers fit for their level. It covers the proper keyboard typing, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet designing, utilizing computer operating system and its applications, meaningful online searching and filtering of information, online safety awareness, collaboration and communication with the use of Internet resources, and the help of multimedia applications.

Objectives:
In Grade 4 ICT, the students are expected to:

  1. Communicate ideas with word processing using formatted text, a variety of graphics and tables.
  2. Create presentations and communicate learning to others using digital tools.
  3. Produce media‐rich digital stories including the use of image, audio and/or video.
  4. Use digital imaging technologies to modify or create images for use in digital presentations.
  5. Plan writing and other projects using visual mapping tools.
  6. Use appropriate digital tools to collect, organize and analyze data including the use of formulas and charts.
  7. Recognize bias in digital resources.
  8. Communicate electronically with others to collaboratively identify and investigate global issues in a supervised educational environment.
  9. Practice injury prevention by applying a variety of ergonomic strategies when using technology.
  10. Analyze and solve basic software problems (restart, refresh, close and reopen program after saving)
  11. Demonstrate the safe and cooperative use of technology.

Unit 1: Tech Operations and Concepts

  • What are the basic parts of a computer?
  • How to create, save, and open a file?

Unit 2: Word Processing and Desktop Publishing

  • What is hyperlink and how to insert it in a document?
  • How to insert tables and graphs in a document?

Unit 3: Computational Thinking

  • How patterns help us solve a problem?

Unit 4: Draw, Paint, and Photo Editing

  • How to scale, rotate, and recolor an image?
  • How to use shapes to draw an object?

Unit 6: Spreadsheets and Database

  • What is a cell, row, and column in a spreadsheet?
  • How to make a graph that displays a visual summary of the survey?

Unit 7: Visual Mapping

  • How can images help us create a short story?

Unit 8: Global Awareness and Digital Citizenship

  • What are the traits of a responsible digital citizen?
  • What is cyberbullying and why is it bad?

Unit 9: Presentation

  • How to search the Internet and use the result for presentation?
  • How to crop an image in PowerPoint presentation?

Attendance Policy

  • Students are required to attend all class meetings, to arrive on time, and to stay for the duration of the class.
  • Students arriving five minutes or more late to class will be marked tardy. Students arriving 10 minutes or later will be marked absent. Students who leave before the class is dismissed will be marked absent.

  • Word Processing and Literacy – includes proper keyboard typing, technology-related vocabularies
  • Computer System and Technology – includes usage of applications and technology skills
  • Math and Logic – includes the use of math and logical thinking to solve problems
  • Online Collaboration & Digital Citizenship – utilizing technology to communicate ideas
  • Design and Multimedia – includes application of art and other media to make a work more presentable

ICT Lab Room 105 Policies

  • No food and drinks inside the Computer lab.
  • Bring only necessary things such as notebook, pencil case, and headset. Leave your bags outside.
  • Use your own user account.
  • Treat the equipment as your own – take care of it.
  • Save your files in the designated folders only. Files save somewhere else will be deleted without prior notice.
  • Downloading of any files is not allowed unless the teacher says so.
  • Do not fix any hardware or software malfunctions by yourself. Inform the teacher about it.
  • Play only academic-oriented games.
  • Computer lab can be used for assignments, projects, and research during after school (2:45-3:30pm)
  • To the best of your ability, uphold the Computer Crime Act B.E 2550 (2007) in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Royal Kingdom of Thailand.
